Ceramic Tile Care and Maintenance
Ambience Tiling recommends the following cleaning methods:
• Floor tiles must be cleaned as recommended by the tile manufacturer.
Do not use:
• A powdered cleaner on unglazed tiles as particles may be retained by unglazed surfaces.
• Soapy cleaners on glazed tiles as they form a surface film, dull the luster, and can promote mildew and bacteria growth in damp areas.
• Acid-based cleaners on Limestone or other acid sensitive stone tiles
Always:
• Read cleaning product descriptions thoroughly and carry out a suitability test of the cleaning method on a discrete area of tiling before beginning work, particularly if using an acid-based cleaner. (Acid-based cleaners should only be used if the other cleaning methods have proved unsuccessful and must be applied by applicators who
are trained in their use and aware of the safety precautions)
• Sweep or Vacuum before being wet cleaned.
• Promptly remove spills and wiped down daily
• Periodically tiles should be given a heavy duty clean, the frequency depending on the amount and type of use.
The tile surface should be thoroughly scrubbed with a scrubbing brush or for large areas a scrubbing machine.
Make sure the clean up water if regularly changed during heavy duty cleaning
